REALTORS® put the Homebuyers’ Road Map in the hands of 100,000+ Canadians

What a milestone! Over 100,000 copies of the Homebuyers’ Road Map have been distributed to REALTORS® to help Canadians looking to buy a home!

Produced in collaboration with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) in 2012, the Homebuyers’ Road Map guides potential buyers through the home buying process – highlighting the direct costs of buying a home and auxiliary costs of homeownership.

The Homebuyers’ Road Map is part of the REALTOR® community’s ongoing contribution to Canada’s financial literacy initiative, which the Government of Canada began in the mid-1990s to expand consumer education in the financial sector. At that time, the government conducted extensive public consultations resulting in a series of reforms in Canada’s financial sector and in the creation of the FCAC – the financial education arm of the government – in 2001.

Home buying – especially for first-time buyers – is a daunting process. REALTORS® are the right people, in the right place, at the right time to educate Canadian buyers and help them make informed financial decisions about one of the largest purchases they’ll likely ever make – their home.

It is from this unique vantage point that REALTORS® are able to leverage their industry knowledge and professional experience to build their clients’ financial skills and confidence, empowering them to make decisions that suit their personal and financial circumstances.

To celebrate the big “100,000”, CREA has reached out to REALTORS® from all across Canada who regularly order copies of the Homebuyers’ Road Map to ask how they use the resource. Here’s what they had to say:

“I keep at least a dozen Homebuyers’ Road Maps in my car at all times.  It serves as a terrific icebreaker and helps me ensure clients have thought through the financial implications and are qualified before the investment of time on both our parts.  I love having all the information in one polished package.” – Beth Crosbie, CREA President

The Homebuyers’ Road Map is a must-have for every buyer in Canada. What a great pamphlet for REALTORS® to assist our buyers on their path to home ownership!” – Pauline Aunger, CREA President-Elect

As a REALTOR®, I have my REALTOR® Toolkit and one of the top tools I use daily is what I refer to as “The 7 Mile Road Map”.  It’s available electronically and in print and features seven steps to help take clients from dreaming of their first home to making that dream a reality!” – Laura Leyser, CREA Past President

I’ve used the Homebuyers’ Road Map to introduce my services to prospective clients and help identify and answer questions relating to the home buying process.” – Michael Terry (ABR, SRS), Sales Representative
