Ask Me Anything with Members of CREA’s Board of Directors – Episode 2

As a REALTOR®, you wear many hats. You’re a trusted advisor and confidant, a marketing expert, pricing guru, but most importantly, you’re a calming figure as your clients embark on the journey to homeownership. Good or bad, your role involves tempering expectations, staying positive and being honest with your clients.

Like you, CREA’s Board of Directors believes in transparency and accountability and for these reasons, we’re happy to announce the launch of our new Ask Me Anything video series.

In Episode 2, CREA’s Chair Costa Poulopoulos, Chair-Elect Cliff Stevenson and Vice Chair Jill Oudil speak openly and honestly about some of the most popular questions we receive from you, our members.

From promoting REALTOR® value in communities across the country, breaking down your dues, to looking at how CREA is protecting its members during the pandemic, your questions are answered.

As REALTORS®, we’re more than just salespeople, we are community builders. How is CREA making sure our industry is seen in a positive light across the country?

“I’ll never forget reading this story about the agent who had a listing and his client was being foreclosed upon and he actually didn’t want to list the property for the sellers and get them out of their home and he actually crowdfunded it to try and get funds for these people to stay in their homes. It was such a great example of how much we care about our community,” said Stevenson.

How much of my dues are going toward paying for REALTOR.ca?

“REALTOR.ca is our site. It’s the preeminent site for all things real estate in Canada. We’re proud owners of it as REALTOR® members,” said Poulopoulos.

I have a client who isn’t on the same page as I am when it comes to physical distancing guidelines. How best should I approach this situation?

“What I do now is I make sure that when I start out with any client that I promote what I’m doing and why I’m doing it,” said Oudil.

What is CREA doing to protect agents during the pandemic?

“During this pandemic, it’s communicate, communicate, communicate. And so CREA has taken on this role of communication as how important it is. We have REAL TIME podcast, REAL TIME magazine, CREA COVID-19 hub. All of these mechanisms … are chalked full of information to make sure that the REALTOR® have the most up-to-date information, how to help both themselves navigate through this and the consumer,” said Poulopoulos.
