Five similarities between PAC Days and Manny Pacquiao

What’s PAC Days? Who’s Manny Pacquiao? If you’re asking yourself these questions, let me first welcome you to the world of REALTOR® political advocacy, and twenty-first century superstar athletics. If you were with me, please, stay with me as this comparison is going to be everything its clickbait title made you think it would be, and more. Now, look no further as we do a little listing of what these two seemingly unrelated things, our annual advocacy conference and an internationally famous boxer, have in common. I assure you it’s much more than the letters PAC.

#1. They’re two of the biggest deals to hit Las Vegas and Ottawa (Las Vegas of the North) respectively next week.

That’s right, as part of Political Action Committee (PAC) Days 2015, on April 26, 27 and 28, 2015, REALTORS® from across the country will hit Parliament Hill to meet with MPs and decision makers and advocate on behalf of homebuyers and property owners.

Just days later on May 2nd, Manny Pacquiao will take to the ring to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what is touted as the biggest money boxing match of all time.

#2. They PAC a punch!

Representing over 109,000 members, arriving on Parliament Hill en masse makes the REALTOR® presence known and is the force behind our grassroots lobbying effort.

Weighing 147 pounds and standing 5’6, Manny “PAC Man” Pacquiao is known as a fearsome, high volume puncher, long rated the strongest pound-for-pound boxer in the world.

#3. They’ve got the right and the left covered.

PAC Days is a non-partisan lobbying conference where we welcome politicians, pundits, journalists and commentators of all political stripes to help immerse attendees in the Ottawa political experience.

Manny Pacquiao also packs power in both the right and the left. He is a south paw but has a hall of fame trainer who has ensured you don’t want to be on the receiving end of his jab either.

#4. They’re synonymous with Parliamentarianism.

Manny Pacquiao was first elected to the Philippines House of Representatives in 2010 where he still sits as an elected member today. Meetings with Parliamentarians are the most important part of the whole PAC Days conference and are the reason for its existence.

#5. They’re both exciting to watch.

Whether it’s the lights of the MGM Grand or the only slightly less glitzy Westin Ottawa, you won’t want to miss the show. Just as Manny Pacquiao will square off against Floyd Mayweather Jr, we’ll get set to watch and listen to some heavyweights like the CBC’s Peter Mansbridge, former Clinton advisor Dr. Anne-Marie Slaughter, and the PAC Days pundit panel with Tim Powers, Warren Kinsella, and Kathleen Monk.
