Weekly Blend: Stuck in a Ghost Town

The spread of COVID-19 is affecting the world now and will have long-term effects we can’t foresee just yet.

With that weighing heavy on the minds of millions of people, it’s important to step away from the news of the world every now and then, even if it’s just for a couple minutes.

This edition of the Weekly Blend is designed to, hopefully, help you crack a smile and remind you about the good and wacky side of the real estate world.

No, it’s not the plot to The Shining: this U.S. man spent his life’s savings on purchasing a ghost town and is now stuck living there throughout this remainder of the COVID-19 pandemic. All work and no play…

Did you watch One World: Together at Home last weekend? The virtual concert featured A-listers and paid tribute to the frontline workers. While the performances were fantastic, it’s Lady Gaga’s colour-blocked floors that created quite the buzz.

We usually hit peak spring cleaning around this time of year, but obviously there’s some things we just can’t tackle right now. Well, here’s a list of projects that don’t require you to buy a thing.

Do you need room for six Larry O’Brien trophies, five MVP awards, 10 scoring leader accolades, two Olympic Gold medals and about 100 other awards? Of course you don’t, because you aren’t NBA legend Michael Jordan. You can live in his shoes, however, if you have $24 million for his Chicago mansion.

The palace that Prince painted purple is pretty pricey. Even doves wouldn’t cry in this $30 million mansion.

It’s a travesty that Mike Love, co-founder of the Beach Boys, is listing his San Diego home. Not because he’s moving, but because his Fairbanks Ranch home isn’t actually on a beach!

Before there was Tiger King, there was Mike Tyson. The former heavyweight champion is known for his love of tigers, and now you can own the abandoned mansion—complete with tiger cages—he used to own.

Staying in the world of boxing, Floyd Mayweather’s mansion is also quite the spectacle; however, instead of tigers, the boxing icon has an incredible belt and wine collection.
