Do You Know a REALTOR® Making Their Community a Better Place?

Do you know a REALTOR® who spends their extra time volunteering with a local charity or community group? Are they using their knowledge and expertise as a REALTOR® to help make their community a more inclusive and equitable place for all? Now is your opportunity to help this community leader be recognized for the impact they have made!

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) is currently accepting nominations for the Canadian REALTORS Care® Award 2024 Proudly Presented by REALTOR.ca.

Since 2016, nine REALTORS® across five provinces have been honoured with the Canadian REALTORS Care® Award. Whether their impact was made through transformative volunteering, advocacy, fundraising or philanthropy—every recipient has embodied the REALTORS Care® spirit.

Our 2023 recipient, Dale Devereaux, has been giving back to the city of Red Deer, Alberta, since joining the community in the 1980s. Devereaux partnered with the Red Deer Food Bank to feed close to 30,000 central Albertans over the past 25 years through his “Feed a Family at Christmas” campaign. He also played a key role in bringing a Ronald McDonald House to his community, finding the land the house now sits on and helping to raise a staggering $12.1 million in 15 months for the facility’s construction.

Devereaux was one of 48 REALTORS® nominated for the 2023 award. Through our new REALTORS Care® Spotlight series, CREA has been, and will continue, sharing the impact stories of some of these nominees, including Chris Dunlop, and Rose Iannacchino.

Chris Dunlop (Toronto, Ontario)

Chris

Chris Dunlop, Canadian REALTORS Care® Award 2023 nominee from Toronto, led multi-million-dollar capital campaigns for the critical renovations and merging of BGC Toronto Kiwanis and the Cabbagetown Youth Centre. Dunlop’s efforts to motivate and guide his brokerage’s charitable work has also made Royal LePage Estate Realty a national giving leader for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, directly supporting three local shelter organizations.

Rose Iannacchino (Niagara Falls, Ontario)

Rose

As the volunteer co-executive director of GROW Community Food Literacy Centre, Rose Iannacchino, a REALTOR® in Niagara Falls has been creating access to healthy and affordable food for Niagara’s most vulnerable citizens. Since the centre opened in 2020, Iannacchino has volunteered more than 3,000 hours to run their weekly market and raise critical funds to support programming for over 450 active members.

Nominate a deserving REALTOR® in your community

If you know a REALTOR® who deserves national attention for their community building efforts, please nominate them for the Canadian REALTORS Care® Award 2024 by our deadline of Friday, December 1, 2023, at 4 p.m. EST.

To submit a nomination you will need to provide:

  • A detailed history of their community work;
  • at least one letter of reference from a registered Canadian charity; and
  • supporting documentation (social media posts, photos, media coverage, etc.).

The recipient will be announced at CREA’s Annual General Meeting in April 2024 and have their story shared across the country. In addition to receiving national recognition and coverage, the recipient’s favourite charity will receive a $5,000 donation from CREA. Even if they are not selected as the recipient, your nominee may have the opportunity to have their impact featured as part of next year’s REALTORS Care® Spotlight series.
