What are consumers in your city searching for on REALTOR.ca?

Since last year, consumers have had the ability to search REALTOR.ca for amenities beyond the usual bedrooms and bathrooms using a Google-type search field. If you haven’t noticed it already on the homepage under “More Options,” here it is:

Compiling search words used between April and June 2015, we recently published a report of the top terms used by consumers in 18 different Canadian cities.

So, what came out on top? Nationally, “in-law suite” and “finished basement” were the top two search terms used, but here are the complete results, city by city:

As buyers begin their search for a home, the information REALTORS® present on REALTOR.ca is often the first impression … and you know what they say about first impressions! Knowing these top search terms provides a glimpse at what homebuyers in your area are searching for. If your listing includes these amenities, make sure you include them in your listing description. It will increase the likelihood it will be viewed as consumers refine their searches.
